Marco Caliendo is Professor of Empirical Economics (since 2011) and Speaker of the Center for Economic Policy Analysis (CEPA) at the University of Potsdam.
Previous to that he was Research Director at IZA in Bonn from 2009-2011. He studied economics at the University of Manchester and the Goethe-University of Frankfurt where he also received his PhD in April 2005.
He is an expert in microeconometric evaluation techniques and has published over 40 articles in top field journals, such as Review of Economics and Statistics, European Economic Review, Journal of Public Economics and Journal of Applied Econometrics.
He served/serves as an advisor inter alia for the German Ministries of Economics and Labour, the Swedish and Portuguese Ministries of Labour, the UK Government Department for International Development, DG Regio, DG Employment and the Worldbank.
He was/is the principal investigator of several microeconometric evaluation projects dealing with the effects of start-up subsidies for unemployed individuals, coaching programs for newly founded businesses and other labour market interventions.
